About
Russian Recording is a professional recording studio owned and operated by Mike Bridavsky. The studio is currently in the process of moving from its previous home of five years in Brown County, Indiana to Bloomington, Indiana, a beautiful town located only 16 miles west. The new space is less than 4 miles from downtown and resides in the building formerly known as The Art Hospital, previously home to Secretly Canadian Records.
The 5000 square foot building is ideally suited for designing a recording studio. With 2000 square feet of wide open space and 17' ceilings, it was possible to design acoustically ideal rooms with clear sightlines and plenty of room to move around. Months were spent designing the studio, which is made up of 3 spacious tracking rooms and a control room (all with ideal acoustic dimensions) and a huge lounge. Additionally, the studio has added many new pieces of equipment to the list, including a brand new baby grand piano, a fully loaded 10 space API rack, a Calrec Soundfield Microphone, and various other instruments, amplifiers and recording toys. The studio is also being upgraded with all new patch bays and cabling and the ability to put any amp, instrument or person anywhere in the studio with clear sightlines and easily accessible connectivity. It is also important to point out that it will still be a remarkably unique, relaxing, enjoyable and uncannily homey environment to make a record in.
Updates on the progress of the new studio will be posted as time permits, so keep checking back. The new facility is due to be open for business in September of this year... which for those of you not keeping up, is 2008. Thanks to everyone who is helping out with this endeavor (so many to thank!).
