At Russian Recording, we strive to make the recording, mixing, and mastering process as efficient, transparent, and enjoyable as possible. To help us keep things running smoothly for everyone we work with, please review the following studio policies before booking a session.

Booking & Payment

To secure your session, we require a non-refundable deposit of 35% of your total booking fee. This guarantees your dates and studio availability.

Payment Schedule:

  • 35% deposit due at the time of booking to secure your dates (non-refundable).
  • 35% due on the first day of your session.
  • Remaining 30% due on the final day of your session.

Rescheduling & Cancellation Policy:

  • If you cancel or reschedule at least 4 weeks in advance, your full deposit can be applied to future dates.
  • If canceling or rescheduling 1 to 4 weeks before your session, 50% of your deposit can be applied to a future booking.
  • If canceling or rescheduling less than 1 week in advance, the deposit is forfeited.

Mixing & Mastering Revisions

All mixing and mastering services include up to two rounds of revisions at no additional cost. Revisions must be requested within 14 days of receiving the initial files.

  • Additional revisions beyond the first two will be billed at our standard hourly rate.
  • Mixing revisions are limited to changes in balance, tone, and level. Requests involving editing, arrangement changes, or adding new parts are considered new work and will be scheduled and billed accordingly.
  • Mastering revisions are based on the originally submitted mix. If a new mix is submitted after the original has been mastered, it will be treated as a new track and billed accordingly.

Freelance Engineers

We welcome freelance engineers and outside production teams. If you're bringing your own engineer, we can provide you with our freelance manual, are happy to help with orientation and can provide technical support as needed. To inquire about renting the studio as a freelance engineer, please fill out the form here.

File Delivery & Archiving

  • Final mixes and masters will be delivered in WAV format unless otherwise requested. We are happy to provide additional file formats (MP3, instrumental, a capella, etc.) upon request at no extra charge if requested within 30 days.
  • We recommend that clients download and back up all session files and deliverables promptly. While we do archive projects, we cannot guarantee long-term storage.

Session Times & Overtime

  • Day rates cover up to 10 hours of studio time. Additional time will be billed hourly.
  • Hourly sessions require a 4-hour minimum.
  • The session clock begins at the scheduled start time, whether or not all participants have arrived. We do our best to accommodate unforeseen delays, but staying on schedule ensures you get the most out of your booked time.
  • For full-band sessions, we strongly recommend booking the evening before your first tracking day (if available) to load in, set up, and dial in sounds and headphone mixes. This allows you to start your first day fresh and ready to record.

Studio Etiquette & Expectations

  • Be respectful of our space, staff, and gear. Any damage caused by negligence or misuse may be subject to repair or replacement costs.
  • You're welcome to bring food, drinks, and guests (within reason). We just ask that you help keep the space clean and functional, and keep in mind that guests can sometimes be a distraction during the session.
  • Smoking is not allowed inside the studio. Outdoor areas are available.
