Sphere Eclipse Type III

At the heart of Russian Recording is a fully rebuilt and customized 72-input Sphere Eclipse Type III console, originally built in 1972 as the only Eclipse Type II ever made. Over a five-year in-house rebuild, it was transformed into a one-of-a-kind Type III, preserving its original discrete signal path while adding features to accommodate modern a hybrid workflow. Paired with Burl Mothership conversion and a 2" Otari MX80 tape machine, it offers seamless integration between analog and digital recording. The Type III’s distinctive sonic characteristics - defined by its clarity, weight, headroom, and depth - are central to the sound of the studio and the way records are made here.
