The control room at Russian Recording is centered around a fully restored and customized 1972 Sphere Eclipse Type III recording console, paired with a wide array of outboard gear and a mastering-grade Telegrapher monitoring system. Designed for both comfort and precision, the room is optimized for accurate critical listening at both the mix position and the client couch, making it an ideal space for mixing, mastering, and creative decision-making.

Extensive acoustic treatment ensures a balanced and flattering listening environment, with an impressive real-time analysis (RTA) response of 300 ms from 30 Hz to 20 kHz. The main mix position features a set of Telegrapher Gorilla mid-field monitors with an Elephant subwoofer, while the client couch is served by time-aligned Telegrapher Fox near-fields. The result is a seamless, phase-linear monitoring experience throughout the room, ensuring every perspective in the space is equally reliable and immersive.

The control room supports both analog and digital recording workflows. For analog tracking, we use a 2" Otari MX80 tape machine with interchangeable 24-track and 16-track head blocks. For mixdown, we rely on a fully restored Studer B67 ¼" half-track deck.

Our digital system is centered around two Burl Audio Motherships, loaded with 24 channels of Burl’s standard A/D converters and 4 channels of their mastering-grade A/D. On the playback side, we run 48 channels of standard D/A and 4 channels of mastering D/A, providing a total of 28 inputs and 52 outputs. A DL patch panel allows instant switching between analog and digital paths, or seamless integration between the two, ideal for analog-to-digital transfers or hybrid workflows.

The control room is fully integrated with mic, line, and speaker tie lines to every room in the studio, making it easy to route anything, anywhere. Want to keep your guitar head in the control room and the cab in the Live Room? No problem. Multi-channel re-amping, flexible routing, and complex setups are fast and intuitive, making it easy to stay both creative and efficient.
